I just bought an IBM Thinkpad R32 as replacement for my Thinkpad X21, only to notice that I can't connect to my WPA-encrypted WLAN anymore. The MiniPCI WLAN-part is of the following type: Intersil Corporation Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset (rev 01) [PCI ID 1260:3873] It is an IBM labeled Xircom Modem and Prism 2.5 WLAN on one card. before flashing "hostap_diag wifi0" gave ma a NICID: id=0x8013 v1.0.0 (PRISM II (2.5) Mini-PCI (SST parallel flash)) PRIID: id=0x0015 v1.1.0 STAID: id=0x001f v1.4.9 (station firmware) thanks to your site I managed to flash it to 1.7.4 NICID: id=0x8013 v1.0.0 (PRISM II (2.5) Mini-PCI (SST parallel flash)) PRIID: id=0x0015 v1.1.1 STAID: id=0x001f v1.7.4 (station firmware) just enough to get WPA working. I just wrote an entry in my (German) blog, see http://www.onderka.com/index.php/2006/07/08/prism-wlan-karten-fur-wpa-flashen/ and I wanted to say thanks! Some people asked me if the modem part of the "IBM Prism2.5/Xircom Modem Combi-MiniPCI-Card" is affected by a firmware upgrade to the Prism part. Maybe you could add thet this is not the case, both devices share the card physically, but besides this they are totally independent. Stefan -- Stefan Onderka - http://www.vespa-t5.org
