From: "Phillip Li" Subject: success with SonicWALL long range wireless card (rebranded Senao SL-2511 Plus) To: jsun@junsun.net Date: Sat, 03 Sep 2005 00:34:54 -0700 Jun Sun, I have successfully flashed the firmware for a SonicWALL Long Range Wireless card. It is a re-branded Senao SL-2511CD Plus card with the Prism 2.5 chipset. Flashing was done on Debian Linux with kernel 2.6.8 and with prism2_srec compiled from the hostAP utilities. Initially, it had primary v1.0.0 and stationary v1.4.9 firmware. For some odd reason, kismet barely detected any networks for me, so I decided to flash the firmware. I used pk010101.hex and sf010704.hex for the primary and stationary firmware respectively. Before the flash, /var/log/messages showed wifi0: NIC: id=0x800c v1.0.0 wifi0: PRI: id=0x15 v1.0.0 wifi0: STA: id=0x1f v1.4.9 After flashing, I now have wifi0: NIC: id=0x800c v1.0.0 wifi0: PRI: id=0x15 v1.1.1 wifi0: STA: id=0x1f v1.7.4 If you need the test run output -- basically running prism2_srec without the -f -- just email me. Again, thanks for the great information. -Phillip Li
