A couple of notes on the process. When running the "prism2_srec -v" option on the new firmware images, a number of "PDR not found from wlan card PDA. Using default data" warning messages were displayed. This concerned me, but I presumed that the new firmware may be overwriting flash space that is uninitialized, and so I decided to go ahead and upgrade just the station firmware to version 1.4.9 (as this was the next level of firmware available from your site that was newer than 1.3.6). The upgrade came back with the usual errors that the driver hadn't been compiled with the PRISM2_NON_VOLATILE_DOWNLOAD option. After editing the driver/modules/hostap_config.h file and uncommenting and recompiling, I tried it again. The upgrade worked perfectly, and a "hostap_diag wlan0" reported the new 1.4.9 station firmware. I then decided to update just the primary firmware to version 1.1.1 from 1.0.7. After I did this, my station firmware 1.4.9 could not be read and a "hostap_diag wlan0" returned an error when reporting on the station firmware. It did report that the correct primary firmware was now at 1.1.1. I repeated the process but now also included the latest station firmware 1.8.0. It upgraded successfully and the card is working great. >From a functional point of view, with the latest release of the station firmware the hostap now correctly interoperates in a WDS environment. I also noticed that the link LED on the card no longer flashes when the driver is initially loaded, only when the card is being accessed and the interface is brought up. Thanks again for your detailed help. Regards, Stephan. -- Stephan A. Edelman, B.Eng. NewAce Corporation Toll Free:1-877-463-9223 x221 International:+1 519 336-4837 x221 (Outside US & Canada)
