I have 3 wirelless card XI-626 (wlan0 firmware 1.3.6, wlan1 1.3.6 a wlan2 1.4.9) I use hostap drivers on linux kernel 2.4.23-rc1 I have some troubles with my configuration , sometimes (once a hour..) some card "freeze" = show signal = but can't ping there... I decide to upgrade firmware, i have good experience with 1.4.9 (one card in one PC), in past i upgrade it under Win98 and then use in Linux machine.., So i want to upgrade all card to 1.4.9 - after reading your howto i decide to upgrade to 1.7.4 So i hacked and recompiled hostap-driver (0.1.2.) and recompile, install, reload module .... just simply follow your howto... The only small problem was to decide which (*.hex) file use... Finnaly i have choosen PK010101.HEX and SF010704.HEX and i test -- and then finaly write it to flash (under traffic throw wlan) - it cause small unreachable of connected network but when new firmware was succesfully loaded everything works fine (not it run 2 hours with no problem with all 3 cards). After I youst try to reset card #iwpriv wlanX reset 1 # And what is great -- the ping latency is now beetwen (client wlan0 - AP, wlan1(AP) - client , wlan2 - AP) bettween 2-3ms -- this is great (The old firmware do something bettwen 3-4 ms) Cards still works fine :) , i can't measure throughput becose i have AP's under load. But i seem that new firmware easily "hold bad signal" on 25/92 is still on 11Mbit.. Thanks You Jun for great Howto. Do you know who write a firmare or it is from company? MaKr makr@slanyfree.net
